FAQs
what is sound healing?
Everything in the universe is attuned to a specific frequency or vibration. For human beings existing in a modern world, we are receptive to the energetic frequencies around us. Perpetual exposure to stressful situations, whether past or present, actual or imagined, has an impact on our own vibrational energy.
Sound healing - sometimes also referred to as sound bathing - is a holistic practice facilitated by trained musicians and sound healers, who play instruments that can recalibrate the energetic frequency in a contained space. The deep vibrational sounds have a profound effect on the human body, bringing us back to a state of harmonious calm.
what kinds of instruments are used for sound healing?
The most common instruments used for sound healing therapy are:
singing bowls
gongs
bells
tuning forks
Many other types of instruments can be used in sound healing journeys when wielded by skilled musicians, including flutes, guitars, harmoniums, hand pans, and hang (or other melodic) drums. The human voice can also be used to elevate a sound healing practice.

Sound healing is known to address a variety of conditions that plague us a human beings who engage in the pulse of the modern world:

what should I expect from my first session?
Similar to attending a restorative yoga practice or a guided meditation practice, you will be invited to take a position of comfort and support.
You are welcome to lie down, supporting your body with a variety of props like bolsters, blankets, or cushions. You can choose to cover your eyes with an eye pillow or a sleep mask. You can choose to weigh down your belly or legs with sandbags.
Or you might choose to take a comfortable supported seat - perched on a meditation cushion, or relaxed in a recliner.
Unlike a yoga or meditation practice, you may feel compelled to stand up and move around during your session. You are welcome to choose your own path and position for healing.
The sounds I create with singing bowls, bells, traditional Andean flutes, and my own voice will resonate deep into your body, mind, and spirit. You might fall into a deep sleep, or sink into a trance-like state. You might feel as though you are sinking deeply into the support of the earth, or you might experience the sensation that you are flying (akin to astral travel).
Know that whatever you experience in your first session will be uniquely profound, and your experience may shift each time you participate.
How does a group session differ from a private session?
In a 90-minute group sessions, you will be invited to relax into receptive, meditative state. I guide the group with visualization, and invite each participant to experience a journey inwards, experiencing the elements (earth, air, fire, and water) through a vibrational soundscape.
In a private session, I will consult with you to discern your intentions and healing objectives. With your consent, I may initiate other wholistic healing modalities I am trained in, including reiki, craniosacral therapy, or massage. Set to a backdrop of sound vibration, I hold a personalized container of space in which you can access your own capacity for healing.
what should I wear?
Essentially you want to create a cocoon around your body that will not distract you from the vibrational experience - nothing tight, itchy, lumpy, or binding. You will want to be as comfortable as possible for your sound healing session.
Wear loose, softly-textured clothing. Because you will be settling into stillness for much of your treatment, you might get cold. As such, I recommend you to bring layers - a cozy sweater, socks, your favourite blanket scarf or throw blanket.
